Wei Ziqiang

魏自强

Ziqiang is a Counsel with the firm. He has assisted in various commercial disputes, encompassing international arbitration, domestic arbitration, and litigation.

Ziqiang graduated with an LL.B from Wuhan University in 2021 and received a J.D. (Distinction) from the National University of Singapore in 2023. While in the National University of Singapore, he was awarded the M. Sornarajah Prize in Investment Law for being the top student in the course.

Ziqiang is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Professional Experience

  • Assisted in acting for a foreign pharmaceutical company in defending a claim for breach of a cooperation agreement. The arbitration was before the SIAC and was conducted in Chinese.
  • Assisted in advising a leading litigation funding company in enforcing a funding agreement of an international arbitration before the HKIAC.
  • Assisting the sole arbitrator in an arbitration between two foreign companies over disputes arising out of a government solar power project. The arbitration is before the ICC.
  • Assisting in acting for a Hong Kong company in a USD$21 million claim for breach of a sales of goods agreement. The arbitration is before the SIAC.
  • Assisted in acting for an investor of a REIT in an administration action, both before the General Division of High Court and before the Appellate Division of High Court. The dispute centers around whether the trust deed of the REIT prohibits certain unitholders from voting when there is a conflict-of-interest.
  • Assisting in acting for a Luxembourg company in a dispute relating to a shareholder undertaking before the General Division of the High Court.
  • Assisted in advising a former chairman and CEO charged with several offences under the Securities and Futures Act.
